The true beauty of music is that it connects people. This universal truth resonates deeply, especially among those who believe that everyone deserves to experience this powerful feeling. While playing and mastering an instrument is often a solitary journey, sharing music with others transforms it into a collective experience.
For children and families immersed in the Suzuki approach, this sense of connection is vital. The Suzuki method, renowned for its emphasis on learning through listening, repetition, and encouragement, thrives on creating a supportive community. To foster this sense of unity and inspiration, families have the opportunity to participate in the National Workshop, an event designed to bring together Suzuki students not only from across the nation, but the world too.
Last year, the National Workshop was held in Bristol at Badminton School from the 3rd to the 5th of April 2024. Among the many attendees were Roberta and Emily, one of the "Traite de piano" music school families. This annual gathering offers a unique platform for participants to feel connected, supported, and inspired more in their musical journeys. It's a time for students to showcase their progress, learn from each other, and gain valuable insights from experienced instructors, highly qualified Suzuki teachers. Emily had lessons with Anna Sibley.
In essence, the National Workshop embodies the spirit of the Suzuki approach, reminding us that while the path to musical mastery is personal, the journey is richer and more meaningful when shared.
Roberta (mother of Emily) experience:
Best memories, lovely families, all very friendly and definitely the biggest fans of music.
We stayed with a residential option, as it was too far away for us to travel every day. And it worked even better as in the free time kids can make friends, also there is a play together session in the evenings which gives a really good vibe.
In general - one of the best experiences, which gave my child a lot of motivation to love her instrument even more.
Inspiring and great experience of the family invites to know more about the National workshops that are made to be for Suzuki students of all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. And even Suzuki Early Childhood Education classes were for the first time available for children ages 0-4.
Children could participate in Violin, Viola, Cello, Piano, Flute, Recorder and Trumpet Programmes including masterclasses, tonalization, group and enrichment classes.
At the same time a lot of other different programs was available to attend:
- Mini programme that provides an introduction to the Suzuki workshop experience with a half-day schedule. Designed for children up to age 7, pre-twinkle/early book 1.
- Classes scheduled through the morning and afternoon over three days, including concerts, play together or ensemble, and talks for parents and teachers.
- Activities including an indoor pool, sports centre, and use of the grounds are available.
- Accommodation is offered on the school campus in comfortable, shared dormitory-style rooms.
High recommendations for all Suzuki families: book this residential workshop at least once for your children and family. Everyone brings back the best memories, feelings of achievement, and becomes absolutely super happy and inspired by teachers, children, and music.
A Must-Attend Event for Suzuki Families.
